Kuniyoshi Utagawa is one of the last great masters of Japanese ukiyo-e and a member of the Utagawa school.

Kuniyoshi's subject matter spans many genres, including landscapes, beautiful women, kabuki actors, cats and mythical animals. He also excelled at painting landscapes using Western painting techniques, and his works include "Famous Places in the Eastern Capital" and "Fifty-three Stations on the Tokaido Highway".
