DATA RESTORATION

The data handled by Japonica Graphics are scans of drawings made between about 100 and 400 years ago, so naturally, there is some color and paper deterioration.

Each piece is carefully restored and color-corrected.

The vividness of the colors is one of the attractions of ukiyo-e, so we are particular about reproducing them.

FINE ART PAPER BAMBOO

One of the papers used by Japonica Graphic is the world's first fine art paper made from bamboo fiber, developed by the German company Hahnemühle with a focus on aging resistance, color reproduction, and resource-saving paper production.

Its natural whiteness, without the use of optical brighteners, and its matt felt structure make it the ideal paper for Japanese painting.

Bamboo does not contain acid or lignin and meets the highest age resistance standards, lasting over 100 years under certain conditions.
